Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
Under federal law, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for healthcare services if you are:
- Not using insurance, or
- Not seeking to submit services to insurance
This applies to clinical services provided by Erica Cuni, LMFT through The Burnout Professor, LLC.
What a Good Faith Estimate Is
A Good Faith Estimate is a written explanation of the expected costs for clinical services that may be provided to you.
The estimate:
- Is based on the information available at the time it is prepared
- Reflects anticipated services, not guarantees
- Does not include services that may become necessary due to unforeseen clinical needs
Actual charges may differ depending on the course of care.
When You Will Receive a Good Faith Estimate
You will receive a Good Faith Estimate:
- After you request information about clinical services, and
- Before services are scheduled or initiated
For ongoing or intensive clinical work, estimates may be updated if the scope of services changes.
What Is Included
A Good Faith Estimate may include:
- Expected clinical services
- Anticipated frequency or duration
- Associated professional fees
It does not include:
- Insurance reimbursement information
- Guarantees of outcomes
- Non-clinical or educational services
Educational products, speaking engagements, workshops, and written materials are not healthcare services and are not covered by the Good Faith Estimate requirement.
Your Rights if Charges Are Higher Than the Estimate
If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above the amount listed in your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill.
You may initiate a dispute through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) within 120 days of receiving the bill.
More information about the dispute process is available at:

Important Clarifications
- Receiving a Good Faith Estimate does not create a therapist–client relationship.
- A therapist–client relationship is established only after appropriate intake, consent, and mutual agreement to services.
- Clinical services are provided only in jurisdictions where Erica Cuni, LMFT, is licensed or otherwise authorized to practice.
